It looks like the goals are:
* End Poverty and Hunger
* Universal Education
* Gender Equality
* Child Health
* Maternal Health
* Combat HIV/AIDS
* Environmental Sustainability
* Global Partnership
(find out more at http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/)
I think you could quibble with an order, or possibly add something to this list, or take something away, but they do seem to focus on the root problems in the world today.
Do I think they are going to be successful? Yes, to differing degrees. I don’t think they will eliminate HIV/AIDS (or even hunger), but helping some people will be a good thing. It will make a difference in the lives of the people who don’t get infected, or get fed.
I’m not sure what you mean by “objective”. I think most of them are concrete enough to be actionable. You can ask someone “are you hungry?” and get a clear answer. If they had picked “universal spiritual fufillment”, I think that would be much harder to work on, because they would get bogged down in what spiritual fufillment is. Well-fed, healthy, etc. are pretty easy to measure.

It’s good that the UN set those goals and i really hope that it’d be successful, there still are still five years for the progress to come to place.
