What Do I Need To Make My Polypterus Senegalus (dinosaur Eel) Happy?
She is 5-8″ now. When I 1st got her she was about 2″ and she was happy to hide in any plants that were available. Now she seems to be not pleased with those plants like they don’t hide her enough. She has started a new habit that I am not sure is healthy. She will about mid water float with her tail stuck to the filter intake with her head behind the heater tube. What decorations do I need to make her feel more at home? Any advise about her breed is welcomed too.

Try bigger fuller plants if she likes to hide in them, also try hamster tubes, buy a straight plastic one, clean it and put it in the tank, she’ll love to play in it. Make sure she’s in a big enough tank too as they can get pretty big.http://fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/6…
My bichir does the same thing with the filter, and I assume that it’s normal behavior since he’s been doing that for almost a year and hasn’t died.
you will need to feed plenty of meaty foods such as cockles and muscles. get some wood or rocks for him to hide in.
get some meat foods for them. live foods would be best.. like muscles or feeder fish to spice up her diet a bit. maybe the plants are getting boring or arent big enough. try getting alot of little plants or a couple bigger ones and see what she likes best. also the tank might not be big enough or the temp needs to be changed. do some water testing, like the ph and salt levels as well as the acid levels. good luck <3
