What Do You Do When You Are Afraid To Be Happy?

11

I feel after many years of personal ups and downs, I am afraid to be happy. I hardly ever use the word. Why am I holding myself back from living life and being happy? How can I move past this?
Any advice, tips, etc…
Thanks ?

I hate to be disappointed so to protect myself from being disappointed ill keep myself from being happy or excited about anything. You are scared of letting yourself be happy and then having it all taken away. Take it day by day and be grateful for your days. Time isn’t guaranteed to anyone so just let that fear go. Even if your only happy for one day its better than being miserable for your whole life. Since you have had your ups and downs than you know that things no matter how bad they are can always get worse. When you feel yourself holding back remind yourself to just enjoy the good times. You can think about the bad times when you are dead.

happy is good why not
forget about this society
just view this society just a system, don’t be too serious
after work or study, go home
and do whatever you like excluding illegal things or harm yourself
happy
just do it

Think possitive.

It’s called depression and it’s treatable. You should get professional help. You shouldn’t be afraid to live your life. Life is too short and precious and there is so many good things to look forward to.

It’s a defense mechanism to avoid things that make us happy because we always know what comes next. Learning to accept these ups and downs makes us strong and ready to stand up to a sudden death, or illness. I had breast cancer. I’m not estatic everyday, but I am happy.

I feel this way all the time but what you have to do is enjoy the moment and try to be happy. You might lose out on life.

Start slow. Try to do something once a week that is just for you. Your favorite restaurant. Call an old friend. I always like the Autumn because I am ready for the weather change and the crisp nights. Think of each season and what you like best about it and then get out and explore! Oh and watch the Comedy Channel or funny movies too. Here’s my secret.,.. try to stay away from Negative people. (This may mean staying out fo the grocery store). People hate to grocery shop. LOL

just feel secure and stop having doubts once you are back up again, and just always strive to get happier that way things wont go back down hill… fear is the root of all evil so get past your fears and things will have no other option but to get better

Probably you dread something awful happening, but you can get happy again. Think about the times when you were happy and recapture them – it may be just revisiting a place you liked such as the beach, or going shopping in a street you haven’t seen for years, and the feeling will gradually return. Getting new friends might help the process too. Good luck.
