What Is Best Way To Change Your Attitude To Be More Positive And Not Look At The Bad Side Of Everything?

This is very much a “personality” trait. It’s the “glass is half full or half empty” question. My husband and I are totally opposite. I’m an optimist and he’s a pessimist. I wish I knew how to change his attitude….if I did I WOULD. He says he can’t help it. As an “optimist” I don’t understand this statement. To me, if things look bad, then just find SOMETHING to hang on to, take a deep breath, and trudge forward. To my husband, everything is a crisis!
Good luck, at least you are willing to TRY to change your attitude and be more positive. HEY, that’s a positive step right there! SMILE! Don’t you feel better already? : )

It is definitely hard work but worth it in the end. You have to make a concious effort to think positively when you are faced with w situation that you would normally have a negative reaction to. Go through life thinking that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it will be a good reason other times it might end up teaching us a lesson. Do something that will make you feel good. For me helping people makes me feel good about myself and then that helps me think positvely about other aspects of my life. Live your life as if today was going to be your last day here on earth…. just thought I would throw a little inspiration in there. good luck and I hope that this helps.

Habits can be made and broken. It’s said it takes 21 days to make a habit. So, every time a negative thought crosses your mind, immediately replace it with a positive thought. Continue to do this for 21 days.

Don’t worry about seeing everything in a happy light. Decide that you are not all that wrong but also that you cant see all or enough to know there are many good things for you . Stay away from groups that are not like you and seek to be with your own kind of person.

Think more positive. You may think of a negative thought but then think of something more on a positive note. Try not to think too deeply about things. You’ll end up complicating things and therefore frustrate yourself. Listen to soothing music, breathe deeply (meditation is good), exercise, and last but not least… smile and laugh.. Thinking more positively will not come overnight but if you keep doing these things and improving your lifestyle you will feel better about yourself and therefore think more positively about things.

I have been studying Buddhist philosophy for some time now and the views expressed here are going to differ greatly than what is described by the above reviewers. The reviewers above treat thoughts and ideas that arise in somebody’s mind as an integral component of your mind. But this is where Buddhist tradition differes from traditional western thought and thus offers a great hope for those that want to get involved.
Thoughts are not an integral part of your mind. They are just like clouds in a sense that they come and go, almost as they please. The objective is to not get attached to any of them. By doing so, you will realise that there is a deeper calm underneath all the thoughts that disturb your mind, for they be positive or negative. Trying to replace negative thoughts by positive thoughts will create more thoughts, and disturb the deeper calm even more. So, your mind is like the ocean. It is deep, calm, and cannot be disturbed by the surface waves (thoughts).
Therefore, you can never distroy your thoughts or intentionally cnange them. The best you can do is to let go of them and enjoy the deeper nature of your mind.
How do you let go of your thoughts? Sit back, either in a chair or cross legged or even lying on your bed, and close your eyes.Then notice, how chaotic your mind is as your thoughts toss you from one place to another. Then, as you lightly pay attention to your breathing, be aware of everything that goes on inside your mind. This awarenes is what is natural for your mind. It has been aware of everything since you were born. But as you age, your thoughts take over this awareness and thus leave you stranded. So, you must reclaim this natural awareness, which is the function of your mind. Then, the thoughts are not the function of your mind, but the function is to be aware of things. As you’re sitting, be aware that your sitting without thinking about it. Never add or take away anything from this awareness. Just let it be. Always remember that the nature of your mind is to be aware.
This method will require some time and patience to work, but it’s the only one that will create a harmonious mind. Try it!!!

I’ve dealt with depression for a long time so I know how it feels to be thinking negative all of the time. I did cognitive therapy with a therapist and it really helped. This is hard to explain, but try to turn your negative thoughts into positive ones. For example, If you’re sad because it’s raining just keep thinking to yourself that tomorrow it will be sunny and you will be happy. It’s really hard for me to explain but look it up. cognitive therapy.

every thorn has a petal every shadow has a casting light every drought has a rainfall so just look at the blue sky green earth and the lullaby of the birds because pain is inevitable but so is beauty and happiness so always think bright, prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
