I think some people aren’t getting this question. I have no doubt that you know that organized religion exists. There are quite a few people like you, me being one of them. I don’t attend church regularly but I believe in God. I’m not sure if you do or not, but if so I guess you could call yourself a Believer. If not then you would be an Atheist. There are quite a few downfalls of organized religion. One being that a lot of Church’s tend to be more for socialization than worship. Plus there are quite a few hypocrits that attend these church’s and it might be best if we aren’t influenced by these people. Also, there are quite a few church’s that are being run like cults…………scary!!

Because it’s ‘organized’ ? or because it’s ‘religion’ ?
Because anything that humans do is better organized. That’s why atheists band together, have groups, publications, etc.
If it’s because it’s religion, then they are simply saying that belief in God is false, but then you have to wonder why Aristotle and Plato believed in God on solely rational grounds and why the Catholic Church (echoing the OT and NT ) says in the Catechism :
“the Church, holds and teaches that God, the first principle and last end of all things, can be known with certainty from the created world by the natural light of human reason.” http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/p1s1c1.htm

Incredibly stupid?
How can you not believe in organized religion — there are hundreds of thousands of organized religions all around you. They’re quite obviously real. Not believing in them would be the height of delusion.
Now, as to whether anything those organized religions *teach* is real, that’s another question entirely…:)
Peace.

If you believe in a religion and do not attend a church, you can call yourself a “nonpracticing Catholic, Methodist, whatever….”
If you do not believe that Jesus was the son of God but you believe in God, then you are more jewish in belief. But you cannot be a non-practicing Jew unless you studied Judaism but now do not embrace it.
Safer to say that if you believe in a god, and don’t deny there could be one, you are an agnostic.

if they believe in jesus and that he died for our sins but they do not believe in the different religions like for example (church of god ,babtist,) like those then they are non -denominational which means they are a christian and do no believe in the different religions

If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are a Christian.
If you deny Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are an Atheist.

I do believe in organized religion because it exists.
I just don’t believe in what organized religion believes in.

neil s @ 5:46 pm #

Confused, since organized religion does indeed exist.
Now, someone may still not believe organized religion is worthwhile, but that is not what you aksed.
