By helping other people. Volunteer at a church or community project that interests you. It will make you feel better about yourself.

I think it comes with facing your fear and being competitive enough that you always want to do your best. I still get sweaty palms and I am fairly successful. I also feel that my self esteem is helped by helping others. When I find that others can benefit from my actions, it makes me feel better about who I am.

What are you fearing or afraid? Fear is usually lack of understanding of the unknowns. Don’t let fear govern anything in your life, it is a wasted emotion and usually is a tool used by the devil. Be big, be strong and believe in yourself, follow through with commitments and develop a value system and a belief system that is yours and that you can follow. Don’t let others ramrod **** down your throat or any other orifice. Associate with people that you look up to and admire that make you want to be a better person!

sounds like you need to focus on something that you are really good at or like. everyone is afraid of something one time or another. sometimes you need to conquer your fears head on-depending on what you’re afraid of.

weight lift, work out, eat healthy… its a start but its not like an on and off switch
stay consistent and stop putting yourself down with negative thoughts.

The first thing I notice about your post is the statement “I have no self-esteem or confidence.” That’s an “all or nothing” statement. I think you must have at least a tiny, tiny bit of self-esteem and confidence.
Start there and take baby steps. Change the “all or nothing” thinking.
In the past I’ve said to myself “I’m a loser, NOBODY likes me, NOBODY loves me, I NEVER succeed,” etc. I took a look at that and relaized that it was statistically unlikely that NOBODY liked me, or that I NEVER had success.
I changed it to say, “SOME people like me, I have had SOME success…” etc. It’s not a cure-all, but it was a good start for me.

I think the best way to gain self esteem is to accomplish something. This can be almost anything that is measurable, build something, get an A, make a friend, help someone, teach someone something, visit a sick person, visit a nursing home, volunteer in a soup kitchen. cut the grass or shovel the sidewalk for someone who is old or sick.
The more you can do for others the better you feel about yourself.
When you make or build something, it stands by itself as a monument to your talent or dedication.

For me, it was two things. The first was doing something I REALLY loved to do, and eventually I became so good at it, other people noticed — years later, I did this thing professionally. The other thing, which was even MORE helpful, was volunteering for organizations that really needed help, and I could see how much my contribution made to people who sometimes had nowhere else to turn. Up to that point, I spent a lot of time wondering why I was such a loser. Turns out — I wasn’t!

Find a hobby that you enjoy! I like to weave baskets. Crafts are what I am really good at. I have always been an artsy person. I am also good at drawing. I am teaching myself how to oil paint. I get out of my depression quickly when I do these things. I feel so confident and self-assured doing artsy stuff. It is a great way to show creativity and will definitely get you to be more confident. You will have a lot of self-esteem.
As everyone else mentioned, help out others. Volunteer at a local hospital. You can be a candystriper changing the pitchers of water for the patients and talking to them for a minute or two every time you go in their room. I did that when I was younger and will do that again on the weekends soon because it did make me feel good. The only reason I stopped doing that was because I got too close to some of the patients. I became friends with two of the patients who ended up dying and I couldn’t handle that at 14 and 15 years of age. I am much older now and can do it with an understanding that they are in a much better place.
Volunteering at a nursing home is another great service because you are probably the only person who is coming to visit a lot of the older folks. Many of these older folks don’t have family members or their family members don’t visit them that often. You can do crafts with them. That is what I would do. I might even check that out.
You can volunteer at a Soup Kitchen feeding the homeless. I have also done that and that made me feel good. It did raise my self-esteem.
Also, try volunteering at a homeless shelter or raise money and collect donations like clothing and hygiene products at your high school or college for homeless people. I did that in college for a battered women’s homeless shelter. I collected a lot of donations — especially clothing. I spent a whole week for at least an hour a day trying to get as many people as possible to want to give what they could to battered homeless women and their children. My confidence level was never so high as when I stood outside the cafetaria talking to people about the battered women’s shelter and how important it is to help these women and their children out.
Don’t be afraid! Tell yourself that you have nothing to be afraid of. You have Jesus watching over you and your guardian angel is always with you. If you are not spiritual try to be because nothing will keep you happier and less fearful than knowing God.
