The chemical serotonin is deficient in depressed minds. It’s nothing to do with brain waves or speed of thought.Anti-depressents increase the serotonin level in the brain

IMO people who suffer from “depression” are people who suffer from envy, self-pity and idleness.
These combine to cause a lot of frustration, a lot of tears and a prescription of happy pills from the doctor.
People who don’t suffer from depression do not possess all of these things.
I know, i know… some people have genuine depression, blah blah blah, but 95% of sufferers just need to get over themselves.

It all comes down to the chemical balance we have. and if you have a want, to be that way then you will. A happy person does think more rapidly, just for the fact that they are happy. good indorfins take over, we get those with practice. If a person is depressed, they may even become OCD!! obsessing can be depressing. We all make our life the way we want, depends on the want. Genes play a big role on what we do, and anyone can change, good luck to you!!!
