What’s The Best Motivation To Start A Running Schedule?

13

I have a hard time getting into a routine when it comes to exercising. I really have no reason to do it, other than the health benefits. Therefore, it’s hard for me to stick to the routine. Any suggestions on good motivation to keep running? You think having a running partner would help?

Motivation for weight loss and fitness
Motivation for weight loss and fitness
One of the greatest difficult tasks is to motivate you for weight loss. After one month around, you start your enthusiasm in your weight loss and fitness program. I have learned few things that that has helped me to be motivating towards the fitness program and get my weight loss goal. I think these tips will also helps you as well to loose weight and keep motivated towards various weight loss and fitness programs.
* Once you have started your weight loss program, its a great idea to weigh yourself only once a week. If you keep on weigh everyday, you will only discourage yourself. If you weigh yourself only once a week, you will be able to analyses whether you need to make change to your existing routine or not.
* Keep a photo of a heavier version of yourself in plain view. This will keep be motivating how great you look after loosing weight than you were before loosing extra pounds. It will also prevent you from sliding back into old habits.
* Once you have achieved your weigh loss goals, and then imagine what you want yourself to look like. This will give you the motivation to keep the weight off.
* Keep setting higher and higher goals for you towards your fitness. If you do not set new goal for you and work to achieve them, then you will surely run in to our bed habit. As a result, you will not be able to keep the weight off. So it’s a great idea to keep on setting new goals and get in perfect shape. As you know it’s a really tough task to keep what you have achieved than what you are looking for.
These are some of ideas that keep me motivated towards my weight loss and fitness program. There may be many more reasons for you to motivate yourself to loose weight.

Well honestly the health benefits are the sole reason to, because it can help your metabolism increase. Though your metabolism may not be an issue now it might later on down the road. Another thing keep it simple, do it for self improvement, be a kid again and reward yourself when you stay consistent, but not with food, lol. Other than that it is who you are that defines your actions. Good Luck

Running with a buddy works. I got motivated after I joined a running club, because it combined the running with hanging out, and we get to try different routes every time we meet, so it’s always interesting. If you’re more into social responsibility and causes, you should think about team in training.

Why not try an activity that you are interested in? I also hate running, but love going to aerobics classes. Aerobics is fun because you get to know all sorts of great people, and it keeps you motivated because you know you will get an hour’s worth of work in with an instructor telling you what to do, rather than you doing it yourself. I’ll run if I can’t get to aerobics class, though. It is all about finding something you enjoy and therefore look forward to. Good luck!

A running partner definitely helps. And, believe it or not, everything is better when you are in good shape, which is what running will do for you. Food will be better, you’ll sleep better, you’ll be more awake when you should be, sex is better, you’ll like your body better, etc etc.
A schedule is great for someone who is just starting out with something. It forces you to at least give it a shot for a while. Soon, you’ll either tear up the schedule and say ‘screw running’, or, you’ll kinda get into it and not need the schedule anymore.

Never mind.
Its good to be lazy.
Work less, eat less, spend less, save more.

The buddy system works for me. I am training for a marathon and not only is it more fun to run with someone, it is safer. If you are feeling lazy somedays, your buddy can encourage you to get out and go! Having the goal and having told everyone about it has motivated me to do what I set out to do. I have been running off and on since High School, but it definitely is more fun when I run with my friend.

I think joining one of those “team in training” groups to benefit things like Leukemia or Cancer gives you the team motivation, plus you know it’s helping you and others. ;) And they will show you how to progress and keep you motivated to increase your endurance without hurting yourself. Good Luck.

No, having a running partner breeds interdependance. You cannot expect a running partner to always be there to run with you…life happens and there will be times that they will not be able to run with you.
Action breeds motivation. Don’t expect to get motivated before you start running, because it’ll never happen. Start running, then you’ll get motivated. Set the time and days you’ll have a regiment and stick to your plan.
Get some XS Energy drinks. Drink one before every one of your runs. An energy boosting product like this B12 loaded booster will energize both your mind and your body to get a move on!
Best wishes,

I have the same problem. A good (preferably attractive) partner helps. that way if you bail, you know you are leaving somebody hanging. Try to do it at the same time every day. I go before work in the a.m. and the birds and the morning dew are my running partners… it’s cool !

Same here. Sometimes getting some really motivating music helps, upbeat music that makes you wanna dance. But instead of dancing, you’ll be running.
Start out with a short run, and increase it everyday. Not by much, but, say, a 2-5 minute increase. Vary your route as well, it’s easy to get bored with the same route and that’s why I give up sometimes.
Maybe running’s not your thing. You might try walking fast, dance, or any othe aerobic exercise. Try stuff at your local gym, perhaps the outdoors isn’t as attractive to you as an indoor program.
Hope that helps, good luck with everything!

If health benefits are the only reason to do it, that is a good enough reason alone. Believe me, health is everything – without it nothing else you have, own or enjoy will mean anything to you. I don’t run but walk and it is definitely hard to get the motivation but as someone once told me – the most important thing in life is to “just show up”. So I just show up with my shoes and push myself out the door and start walking. When I’m done, I’m so happy and the feeling of accomplishment is fantastic. A walking or running partner definitely makes it 100% easier. I do have a walking partner on certain days and on those days, I have no problem doing it. The other days I have to, right, “Just show up”. Good Luck
