I’m doing a director’s notebook on Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar but I’m having trouble with writing about a character’s motivation and the characterization of a character – Idk whats the difference between the two when writing about them.! > . <

The character motivation is the internal conflict which creates their personality, or to simplify that, the reason they do what they do.
Like for example, if somebody throws down a pack of cigars, their character motivation is that they want to quit smoking.
characterization is describing the character. What is their personality? Physical features?
