Something that is healthy for me. I have heard that losing too much too fast is not good for you. My height is about 5’4, and although I carry it well and don’t really look it, my weight is about 216.

Try to stick with approximately 2-3 lbs per week–no more than that. At first though, you may lose weight a little faster than that, but it will slow down as you continue your new eating style Do you know how many calories a day you are planning to consume? What is your target weight loss? TV shows like “The Biggest Loser” and the “Celebrity Fit Club” frequently show people who lose a tremendous amount of weight very rapidly. It isn’t healthy to do that, and I can almost guarantee that these people will gain back all of the weight and then some, unless they make a commitment to permanently changing their eating habits for the rest of their lives. Losing weight rapidly puts a huge strain on your body, lowers your metabolic rate very quickly (which makes it harder to lose weight), and doesn’t teach you the fundamental eating habits you need to develop to keep the weight off. Good luck! It’s tough to lose weight and keep it off but it can be done. You just have to make up your mind to commit to it.
I would say you can try for 2 to 3 pounds a week. That means consuming 7000-10500 less calories than you usually do. The numbers may seem really big, but it can be accomplished by replacing drinks with water and toast and eggs for bagels, etc.
I’m 5’6 and was at 206 when I started exercising and dieting. I didn’t set a goal for myself because for me they only add stress. If you’re going to lose weight, you lose it. I just celebrated the weight loss when I hopped on the scale and it was less than what i weighed before. I’m now at 175 and feeling good. You should lose weight at a healthy rate as long as you eat properly and exercise without going to insane with it. (The doctors usually say losing about 5 pounds a week is good.)
The rule of thumb is no more than 1 lb or 1 kilo a week because a faster loss rate is likely to be temporary only and you will regain it all.
