Why Aren’t Conservatives Happy About Obama’s Decision To Send More Troops To Afghanistan?

10

You’d *think* that with all the blasting from the right that they would be at *least* happy that Obama finally came through on the Afghanistan front–after months of serious discussions and talks with his staff and the Pentagon.
Or is all the recent angst just a reflection on the days when Bush was President and he couldn’t be counted on to make a rational decision when it came to troop deployments in Iraq or Afghanistan?

I am…
I agree, the pull out will pressure the Afghan government to start acting…
I would’ve sent 50,000 troops. But i still believe commitment is better than doing what the Soviets did, we should pull out when victory is within sight. That’s how we won WW2.
i’m not an ideologue like you. I remember you said Bush unemployment in 2008 was 9%, and i sent you a government source that proved you wrong. Did you learn your lesson Sky?

Probably the latter. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. You know as well as I that 99.999% of Democrats wouldn’t support anything a Republican president did, regardless of anything else.
Unlike most other conservatives, I mostly approve of Obama’s decision. I know he said we’re out in 18 months, but I don’t believe him. That might be a tactic to demand progress. Probably not, but if it is, it’s clever. Obama’s broken enough promises as it is, and if that is just another, wouldn’t surprise me.

Well? @ 3:20 am #

You don’t know what you’re talking about.
I’m sure you’ve never attempted to sit down and have a rational discussion with a conservative about their feelings on Afghanistan. (i know this because as a liberal you would be unable to have a rational conversation about anything you disagree with).
And as for Blue Christy’s (or whatever) rational it would stand to reason that “our troops” are all good little liberal boys and girls….get real!

bluechri @ 5:35 am #

I asked that as well ( every question I ask now days the cowardly cons report however ).
But I think I just figured it out- at least in part . Our soldiers are truly fighting in Afghanistan to protect our country ( at least more so then Iraq )
Instead of just fighting and giving up their lives for corporate wealth as in Iraq .
That has got to be it – because aside from War Cons Love corporate wealth ( they worship it ).

Inconvenient Truth..for Liberals @ 10:11 am #

Hey, I’m for all this end the war stuff, but when is a hypocrite and copies what I was doing and people think what he is doing is somehow better?
Also, not to brag, but I remember watching a documentary on a non biased ABC about returning troops, and I remember specifically an entire squad agreeing that I was one of the greatest military leaders, and they don’t know what will happen with Obama in control.
How come we take opinions of non military debaters over what the people who actually fight?

lumberja @ 12:17 pm #

why would anyone be happy? were sending more troops to fight what? billions of dollars spent less freedoms for americans thanks to a group of terrorist that some third world country could wipe out.. were so stupid to let this happen to america.. the so called terrorist are winning and there in Washington making the laws as we speak

MM @ 6:19 pm #

I have to say I’m kinda disappointed in Obama for sending in more troops to Afghanistan. I voted for him to end the Iraq war quicker and now he’s escalating another one?

Rocky @ 8:34 pm #

Didn’t you liberals protest against Bush for doing the exact same thing?

huh @ 3:13 am #

They are, they just can’t show it or they get demerits.

Because he said that no matter what, we are pulling out in 18 months.
