When it comes to personal spaces like a bedroom, the most common problem is in the way you think.
People think “nobody will ever see this room but me,” so they feel that if the rest of their home, the public spaces that people will see when they come over, are clean and organized then their bedroom doesn’t matter.
This way of thinking is a big mistake.
Your bedroom is your haven. It is the place that you go to unwind at the end of a busy day, it is the first room you see when you wake up and the last room you see before falling asleep. Give yourself the gift of organization. Treat yourself the way you treat others.
You wouldn’t invite friends over and expect them to step over piles of dirty laundry on the living room floor – you would probably be embarrassed if they had to do that.
So don’t expect yourself to have to deal with it either.
I think if you can change the way you think about your bedroom, you will be more inclined to keep it organized the same way you are able to keep other spaces organized.
Here is a website that can help you get started:

Tell your mom you are practicing to be a pilot… you “Pile it here and you pile it there”! Ok just kidding. The real key is a place for everything and everything in its place! Don’t ever just ‘set it down’… take two seconds more and put it where it goes. If that is still hard, make use of baskets and bins to at least keep like things together! Good Luck!!!

A place for everything and everything in it’s place. Target has all kinds and sizes or tubs for organizing stuff. You can even buy cubbies and put baskets into them. If nothing else, just stack the tubs on top of one another. Label them and put your stuff in them–papers, Cd’s, DVDs, toys or collectibles, books–you can even buy separate trays for your dresser so you can easily separate your underwear and socks. What you probably need to do first is go through all your stuff and make 3 piles, keep, throw out, donate. Then organize your keep stuff. See if your mom and dad will buy some organizing hardware for your closet.

It sounds like you just relax a little in your own space. And also, maybe you have too much stuff? Try decluttering a little. Give some things that you no longer need or love or use to someone who can (check with mom first). then not having as much stuff will be easier to keep put up. also try making a schedule for yourself. Like dust one day, vacumm one day. laundry one day. put before you go to bed kinda like a routine, pick up and put up. doing a little every night is easier and less stressful than all at once.
