Why Do So Many People Get Caught Up In Being Happy?

It seems like life is not really all about making sure you are happy. Happiness is a dilusion, and an excuse for people to be selfish and childish and use the excuse “I’m not happy”. Do you agree with this?

It feels better to be happy. People who are happy then to live longer.
However, no one can be happy all of the time. One cannot experience happiness without having experienced sadness.
How can you describe light without dark? good w/o evil?
What you may be referring to are people who get trapped in the idea that acquiring more material things will bring them more happiness. This may work for a while, but in the long wrong, not so much.

I think that happiness is an extreme like sadness. I think it’s all about your defintion of what happiness is.

The main goal of everyone in life is to achieve happiness. The problem is many people desire too much and get to the point where their personal happiness is almost impossible.
People look for the more excited end of happiness rather than the content end. That’s the mistake.
It’s not childish to want happiness. It’s childish to use it as an excuse, but it’s childish to use anything as an excuse.

Yes and no. Happiness is a great emotion to experience during your short time here. Happiness is different for each living breathing individual. I would say that experiencing happiness is a great part about being alive. Sure everyone has bad days and events that occur to make them unhappy but that’s just part of the gift you’ve been given.
It’s different for each person. There are some days when I’ll sit around listening to Tool drinking myself into oblivion waiting for the inevitable. Then there are times when I’ll burn one down and heading down the highway on some other strange and twisted adventure.
Hell happiness and dillusional are just made up words any damn way am I right?!?!? Do what you will with your time Mr. Wolf just make sure that you go see Jules and Vincent, they’ve got a corpse without a head over at Jimmy’s and if Bonnie shows up he’s getting a fu**ing divorce! God I love Pulp Fiction, it makes me happy!!!!

Life is what you make it….and you can be perfectly happy without being selfish and/or childish. Although I do think that far too many people are self centered and selfish in today’s world…it’s all about me me me, and what can YOU give or do for ME. I don’t know if I would necessarily say they are using the excuse of “I’m not happy” though.

I think people had different interpretation of HAPPINESS… Because as of today, people view HAPPINESS with money, material possessions, shopping, leisure, high status, fame and others…. Well, i think, being happy is to be with people you love…. Seeing them happy will make you also happy… Helping other people because you care about them not just you’re showing off or something… that will also make you happy… Peace everywhere will make also an individual happy , secured and contented…. Being simple with a contented life, a house, food, beliefs, livelihood and especially family are enough to make everyone happy….
