Why Is It So Impossible To Be Happy Everyday?
Are *most* people happy every day, or would that be abnormal?
Like today, I watched a depressing movie, and I was in a sad mood the rest of the day.
My hubby thinks it’s strange how much music and movies affect my moods.
Is that normal?

There’s a point at which a person’s high highs and low lows are considered an illness called bipolar disorder. I’ll give you a couple of examples.
When I was in college, I met a girl at a meeting of a film club. They were showing a famous movie that was made in Germany in the 1930s, a piece of Nazi propaganda called Triumph of the Will that showed how Hitler was ready to conquer Europe. This girl sat next to me, and at one point I turned and saw her face. She looked at me with a big grin. She really loved the movie, as if it was a great comedy. Later, I learned that she was Jewish. When I got to know her, I found that she was either very cheerful or very depressed, with no in between, and that the change could happen in a matter of hours.
In some cases, bipolar disorder can result in a condition of extreme excitement in which the person loses touch with reality. I remember a young man who was a patient in a mental hospital for this reason. It was hard to carry on a conversation with him. His reasoning was impaired, and he kept saying things that made no sense.
These are extreme examples. Most people with the disorder don’t have conditions that are nearly this bad. They illustrate the point that BD should be taken seriously. The experts say that, although not all cases of depression need medical care, all cases of bipolar disorder do need medical care. For one thing, the problem can get worse as the person ages.
My guess is that you’re just what we’d call an emotional person. I’d rather be that than one of these cold fish who can’t feel anything when they’re confronted with great art, the beauty of nature, or injustice. What’s the point of being alive?
A lot of peoples happiness they base on material things rather than spiritual. I know of no one who is happy every day. We all have our down days and it’s our ability to accept life as it comes at us is what makes our ability to be happy. Not to worry so much because a movie made you feel sad all day as we all respond differently to different causes. And no to me you do not sound depressed like another answer suggested.
Of course this is normal. well, just imagine that if a person is smiling and laughing all the day. 7 days a week. what you would be thinking about such person and where that person should be landed. ……… Exact you guess very well, such people need proper medical treatment.
You have a beautiful mind and you are leading a very normal life. Look, there are two sides of every thing in life. We can’t go so safe because its not the law of nature. lets start from our arrival in this world.
Life — Death
Sadness — Gladness
day — night
sweet — bitter
Try to enjoy your life to the fullest. we can’t do that until we get to know the both aspects of life.
I’m one of those who is naturally inclined to be in a good mood most of the time, but even I have my occasional “slip” if you will, its just human. And movies and music are meant to have an emotional effect of a person. If they don’t, its just more background noise.
Because you have depression, and because everyone is miserable. It’s hard to be happy when everyone is miserable. But more importantly, your words describe depression. Talk to a doctor. Antidepressants can be very powerful if they’re right for you.
