When the subject of how the world views America comes up, their usual response is “who cares?”, so would they be happy if America had no allies at all?

Yeah, they would. They figure that the more people that hate America the more righteous we are. Oddly, that sounds like the attitude of a Muslim extremist, doesn’t it?

I (conservative) would be happy if we could consider all the countries of the world as our allies. However, I think we should do what is right for America regardless of whether some other country is going to be angry about it.
It’s the same with you and your neighbors. You would like them to be your friends (allies), but are you willing to give them all your stuff or sacrifice your security to make it happen? I doubt it.

No. And no Republicans stated that or even implied such a thing.
Perhaps you don’t quite grasp the concept of having our head of state put the interests of the American people ahead of the desires of other countries.
That’s what every other country does.
Oh, and having allies means alliances with governments. It does not mean caring about the public opinion polls of foreigners.

If you were forced to give your lunch money to a bully every day so he would be your “friend”, how would you feel. The U.S. has for to long bent over backwards trying to finance the rest of the world just so they have friends who might help them in a pinch. If people do not respect the U.S. for standing up for what is right, they are not our friends. And, I think it is shameful that our government is EVER willing to sacrifice our values and standards to buy someones friendship. I am not blaming Obama for doing this….It has been done behind the scenes more or less for decades. I only hope that what he has said about the countries that number themselves as our enemies is true. If they will open their fists, we will extend our hand. But if they choose to continue to use violence to attack us or our friends, we will outlast them and eventually defeat them. THAT, I can get behind.

S P @ 9:20 am #

Considering everything America has done for the world, and the way the international community treats America, can you blame them?

Laura @ 10:38 am #

The Republicans/Conservatives who spout this nonsense were the same ones who supported Dubya’s cowboy mentality. This type of ideology has only turned our allies against us and created a deeper chasm for the U.S. in the international community.

Pudley @ 1:48 pm #

We already have many allies so we don’t need to cuddle up to terrorist states and ones that only want to manipulate us for funds and do not agree with our policies.

honeybee @ 7:26 pm #

I would be happy if we brought out total military home , protected our boarders and cut off all foreign aid.
But with a one world government[ witch wont happen] N.W.O. that wont happen.

haha… they don’t care about allies, the only ones they care about is themselves.
our allies are dwindling… ex: we had dozens of allies when we invaded Iraq. Over half of them left. And the only ones left are the ones we drag along to every war event. (Britain, Australia… more)

No liberals want to stop giving Israel billions of dollars to fund their defense programs, when that money should be brought back to the U.S.

Golden @ 4:24 am #

there is certainly a faction that wants isolation. of course they don’t understand what that means… , or they’re totally insane. likely both.

Give Blood @ 7:58 am #

I doubt that the Republicans would be happy under any circumstances.

Son of Liberty, JD @ 10:20 am #

No. Not really. But we would be ecstatic if you would go to France and take your friends with you. You might even be happier too. You would be living among your peers.

Enzyte Bob Lives! @ 1:20 pm #

I’d be happy if all liberals were imprisioned.

vtjames7 @ 3:59 pm #

Not at all- you really dont know what republicans are about it seems.

How does one ally with countries that want Islam to take over the world?
I’m not familiar with the logistics of that.

eelfins @ 1:14 am #

Liberals want to toss out Israel and embrace Hamas. Yeah, they’ll make good allies…

Warren T @ 3:38 am #

UNLIKE THE DEMOCRATS REPUBLICANS TRY TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE COUNTRY NOT WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES WANT.

jakeb @ 9:58 am #

It doesn’t matter. If Russia or China turns aggressive, we will be mobbed with allies.

Yug Ihc @ 2:36 pm #

its your messiah who is now launching missiles at our allies. why aren’t you in Pakistan fighting for Hope and Change?

Justin Case @ 6:47 pm #

Plant your lips firmly onto a French butt and see where it gets ya.

You must have been such a kissass back in high school if you’re so worried about what others think about you.

georgia peach @ 2:44 am #

i do care more about doing what’s right than what the other countries think of us..
is that wrong?

The South Will Rise Again @ 9:31 am #

Yeah… millions of less mouths to feed…

Chi Guy @ 10:45 am #

According to them the USA doesn’t need anyone that they cannot order about. They prefer to boycott allies who disagree with lie based invasions.
